What is Maine's Law on Holiday/Sunday Sales
The statutory reference for legal holidays in Maine can be found in 4 MRS §1051. The language regarding holiday and Sunday sales at certain retail establishments can be found in 17 MRS §3204. In particular, this section states, “In no event, however, may any store having more than 5,000 square feet of interior customer selling space be open on Easter Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.” 17 MRS §3203 addresses sales of motor vehicles on Sundays.
