The bill includes
ongoing General Fund appropriations of $300,000 beginning in fiscal year
2025-26 to the Department of the Attorney General to contract with a
designated nonprofit, independent health insurance consumer assistance entity
to continue to operate the Health Insurance Consumer Assistance Program, as
established in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 24-A, section 4326. |

Any additional
costs to the Department of the Attorney General associated with receiving the
report from the consumer assistance program and preparing a report for the
Legislature are expected to be minor and can be absorbed within existing
budgeted resources. |
