(5-22) Joseph Poulin, of Oakland, who received the Silver Beaver, the highest award a local council can bestow upon a volunteer Scout leader. Mr. Poulin has been active in Scouting since 1990, when he was a Webelos Cub Scout. He later became a Boy Scout with Oakland Troop 454 and earned his Eagle Scout award in 1997. Since 2002, he has served as a volunteer leader in Scouting at the local, district and council levels. He serves as the vice chair of the Kennebec Valley District and the training chair for the Pine Tree Council and is a member of the Pine Tree Council Executive Board. He also has served as the program director for Day Camp and Fun Pack Weekends. We extend our congratulations and best wishes;

(5-46) the First Congregational Church of Gray, United Church of Christ Maine, which is celebrating its 250th Anniversary this year. In 1774, the church was formed by the Congregational Society as the First Parish church in the settlement of New Boston, which was later incorporated as the Town of Gray in 1778. Throughout its history, the First Congregational Church of Gray has remained a vital part of the town center and activities. It has occupied five buildings in three locations in the village, with the current church in use since 1901. Known affectionately as "the church in the heart of the village," the First Congregational remains a constant, visible symbol of faith and a center of service to the community. The church offers its Parish House building as a meeting place for civic organizations and its own Christian education programs and outreach to the community, including public suppers and participation in community events such as the annual Blueberry Festival, as well as a preschool playground and free creative music and movement class. The church also sponsors and houses the Gray Community Food Pantry, serving families in Gray and surrounding communities. We extend our congratulations and best wishes;

In Memory of: (5-76) Sharon Barker, of Bangor. Early in her career, Ms. Barker helped manage the Community House, an adult education program in Presque Isle. She went on to work for ten years as a counselor and clinical services coordinator for Family Planning in Bangor. In 1984, she cofounded the Mabel Wadsworth Women's Health Center, and she was the center's president for many years. She served as the first director of the Women's Resource Center at the University of Maine from 1991 until her retirement in 2014. Among the initiatives she oversaw there are the Safe Campus project against sexual assault, the United Sisters mentoring program, pairing college women with high school girls, the Maine Girls' Collaborative, $tart $mart salary negotiation workshops for women and the annual "Expanding Your Horizons" conference, which brings 500 middle school girls to campus from all over the State to explore career opportunities in the STEM fields. She received many honors recognizing her work as an advocate for women's rights, including the Mary Hatwood Futrell Award from the National Education Association in 1997, induction into the Maine Women's Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Mary Ann Hartman Award in 2020, among countless other recognitions. Ms. Barker will be long remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends and all those whose lives she touched;
